My first blog

Hi! My name is Fran and I am a 35 year old accountant currently living in Kent with my husband and 3 young children.

My husband is a teacher and I am very lucky to have a job that has 6 weeks holiday a year (plus I am only part time so I like to use my days off as much as I can too!) so we try to make the most of all our time off and we are always off on holidays.

They aren’t always exciting places…many a trip is to Stoke-on-Trent to visit family but we try to see and do as much as we can to make it exciting for the children. For me it’s all about making memories for them.

As we are away so often we have to limit the spending on each trip, but being an accountant I am super thrifty and will spend hours/days planning each one. I booked everything separately and often do indirect flights to bring down costs which some people think is crazy with small children but for them it is just an extra adventure.

What I want to share with you in this blog is how I plan each trip showing you ways that I have budgeted and researched. I also want to show how going away with small children isn’t as stressful as people think and that they shouldn’t limit where you chose to visit.

I have 5 holidays planned (so far!) for this year:

  • April – Cornwall
  • May – Stoke
  • July – Corfu
  • October – Florida
  • December – Lapland

Lapland is the one I am beyond excited about…I think I am more excited than the kids! I will update you about these holidays as they happen but I will start with recaps of what we have done so far to give you more tips and ideas.

We also love making the most of our weekends as well so I hope to share with you some of our day trips too.

Thanks for reading x
